2017-04-16git-p4: don't use name-rev to get current branchLibravatar Luke Diamand1-1/+1
git-p4 was using "git name-rev" to find out the current branch. That is not safe, since if multiple branches or tags point at the same revision, the result obtained might not be what is expected. Instead use "git symbolic-ref". Signed-off-by: Luke Diamand <luke@diamand.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2017-04-16git-p4: add failing test for name-rev rather than symbolic-refLibravatar Luke Diamand1-0/+16
Using name-rev to find the current git branch means that git-p4 does not correctly get the current branch name if there are multiple branches pointing at HEAD, or a tag. This change adds a test case which demonstrates the problem. Configuring which branches are allowed to be submitted from goes wrong, as git-p4 gets confused about which branch is in use. This appears to be the only place that git-p4 actually cares about the current branch. Signed-off-by: Luke Diamand <luke@diamand.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2016-12-05git-p4: support updating an existing shelved changelistLibravatar Luke Diamand1-0/+38
Adds new option "--update-shelve CHANGELIST" which updates an existing shelved changelist. The original changelist must have been created by the current user. This allows workflow something like: hack hack hack git commit git p4 submit --shelve $mail interested parties about shelved changelist make corrections git commit --amend git p4 submit --update-shelve $CHANGELIST $mail interested parties about shelved changelist etc Signed-off-by: Luke Diamand <luke@diamand.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2016-11-29git-p4: allow submit to create shelved changelists.Libravatar Vinicius Kursancew1-0/+31
Add a --shelve command line argument which invokes p4 shelve instead of submitting changes. After shelving the changes are reverted from the p4 workspace. 2015-11-24git-p4: clean up after p4 submit failureLibravatar GIRARD Etienne1-1/+1
When "p4 submit" command fails in P4Submit.applyCommit, the workspace is left with the changes. We already have code to revert the changes to the workspace when the user decides to cancel submission by aborting the editor that edits the change description, and we should treat the "p4 submit" failure the same way. Clean the workspace if p4_write_pipe raised SystemExit, so that the user don't have to do it themselves. 2014-08-13tests: fix negated test_i18ngrep callsLibravatar Johannes Sixt1-1/+1
The helper function test_i18ngrep pretends that it found the expected results when it is running under GETTEXT_POISON. For this reason, it must not be used negated like so ! test_i18ngrep foo bar because the test case would fail under GETTEXT_POISON. The function offers a special syntax to test that a pattern is *not* found: test_i18ngrep ! foo bar Convert incorrect uses to this syntax. 2014-05-27git-p4: Do not include diff in spec file when just preparing p4Libravatar Maxime Coste1-1/+2
The diff information render the spec file unusable as is by p4, do not include it when run with --prepare-p4-only so that the given file can be directly passed to p4. With --prepare-p4-only, git-p4 already tells the user it can use p4 submit with the generated spec file. This fails because of the diff being present in the file. Not including the diff fixes that. Without --prepare-p4-only, keeping the diff makes sense for a quick review of the patch before submitting it. And does not cause problems with p4 as we remove it programmatically. 2014-01-22git p4 test: is_cli_file_writeable succeedsLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-1/+1
Commit e9df0f9 (git p4: cygwin p4 client does not mark read-only, 2013-01-26) fixed a problem with "test -w" on cygwin, but mistakenly marked the new test as failing. Fix this. Signed-off-by: Pete Wyckoff <pw@padd.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2013-01-26git p4: cygwin p4 client does not mark read-onlyLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-2/+12
There are some old versions of p4, compiled for cygwin, that treat read-only files differently. Normally, a file that is not open is read-only, meaning that "test -w" on the file is false. This works on unix, and it works on windows using the NT version of p4. The cygwin version of p4, though, changes the permissions, but does not set the windows read-only attribute, so "test -w" returns false. Notice this oddity and make the tests work, even on cygiwn. 2012-09-16git p4: add submit --prepare-p4-only optionLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-0/+24
This option can be used to prepare the client workspace for submission, only. It does not invoke the final "p4 submit". A message describes how to proceed, either submitting the changes or reverting. 2012-07-05git p4: notice Jobs lines in git commit messagesLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-0/+155
P4 has a feature called "jobs" that allows linking changes to a bug tracking system or other tasks. When submitting code, a job name can be specified to mark that this change is associated with a particular job. Teach git-p4 to find an optional "Jobs:" line in git commit messages and use them to make a Jobs section in the p4 change specifitation. 2012-04-30git p4: fix writable file after rename or copyLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-2/+4
The way rename works is with a "p4 integrate", optionally followed by a "p4 edit" if the change is not a 100% rename. Contents are generated by applying a patch, not doing a file system rename. Copy is similar. In this case, p4 does not fix the permissions back to read-only. Make sure this happens by calling "p4 sync -f". 2012-04-30git p4: bring back files in deleted client directoryLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-2/+5
The code to auto-create the client directory, added in 0591cfa (git-p4: ensure submit clientPath exists before chdir, 2011-12-09), works when the client directory never existed. But if the directory is summarily removed without telling p4, the sync operation will not bring back all the files. Always do "sync -f" if the client directory is newly created. 2011-12-27git-p4: document and test submit optionsLibravatar Pete Wyckoff1-0/+54
Clarify there is a -M option, but no -C. These are both configurable through variables. Explain that the allowSubmit variable takes a comma-separated list of branch names.
