We strbuf_reset() this "struct strbuf" in a loop earlier, but never
freed it. Plugs a memory leak that's been here ever since this code
got introduced in 1c7b76be7d6 (Build in merge, 2008-07-07).
This takes us from 68 failed tests in "t7600-merge.sh" to 59 under
SANITIZE=leak, and makes "t7604-merge-custom-message.sh" pass!

This change allows git-merge messages to be cleaned up with the
commit.cleanup configuration or --cleanup option, just like how
git-commit does it.
We also give git-pull the option of --cleanup so that it can also take
advantage of this change.
Finally, add testing to ensure that messages are properly cleaned up.
Note that some newlines that were added to the commit message were
removed so that if a file were read via -F, it would be copied
faithfully.

Before, we had some Git commands which were upstream of the pipe. This
meant that if it produced an error, it would've gone unnoticed. Refactor
to place Git commands on their own.
Also, while we're at it, remove spaces after redirection operators.

This also updates the autogenerated merge title message from "merge commit X"
to "merge tag X", and its effect can be seen in the changes to the test suite.

When the user specifies a message, use fmt_merge_msg_shortlog() to
append the shortlog.
Previously, when a message was specified, we ignored the merge title
("Merge <foo> into <bar>") and shortlog from fmt_merge_msg().
Update the documentation for -m to reflect this too.

Even if the user explicitly gave her own message to "git merge", the
command still added its standard merge message. It resulted in a
useless repetition like this:
% git merge -m "Merge early part of side branch" `git rev-parse side~2`
% git show -s
commit 37217141e7519629353738d5e4e677a15096206f
Merge: e68e646 a1d2374
Author: しらいし ななこ <nanako3@lavabit.com>

Merge early part of side branch
Merge commit 'a1d2374f8f52f4e8a53171601a920b538a6cec23'
The gave her own message because she didn't want git to add the
standard message (if she wanted to, she wouldn't have given one,
or she would have prepared it using git-fmt-merge-msg command).

There was no test for this before, so the testsuite passed, even in case
the merge summary was missing from the merge commit message.
