2020-02-19t7112: remove mention of KNOWN_FAILURE_SUBMODULE_RECURSIVE_NESTEDLibravatar Philippe Blain1-1/+0
The known failure mode KNOWN_FAILURE_SUBMODULE_RECURSIVE_NESTED was removed from lib-submodule-update.sh in 218c883783 (submodule: properly recurse for read-tree and checkout, 2017-05-02) but at that time this change was not ported over to topic sb/reset-recurse-submodules, such that when this topic was merged in 5f074ca7e8 (Merge branch 'sb/reset-recurse-submodules', 2017-05-29), t7112-reset-submodules.sh kept a mention of this removed failure mode. Remove it now, as it does not mean anything anymore. Signed-off-by: Philippe Blain <levraiphilippeblain@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2017-05-30submodule test invocation: only pass additional argumentsLibravatar Stefan Beller1-2/+2
In a later patch we want to introduce a config option to trigger the submodule recursing by default. As this option should be available and uniform across all commands that deal with submodules we'd want to test for this option in the submodule update library. So instead of calling the whole test set again for "git -c submodule.recurse foo" instead of "git foo --recurse-submodules", we'd only want to introduce one basic test that tests if the option is recognized and respected to not overload the test suite. Change the test functions by taking only the argument and assemble the command inside the test function by embedding the arguments into the command that is "git $arguments --recurse-submodules". It would be nice to do this for all functions in lib-submodule-update, but we cannot do that for the non-recursing tests, as there we do not just pass in a git command but whole functions. (See t3426 for example) Signed-off-by: Stefan Beller <sbeller@google.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2017-04-23builtin/reset: add --recurse-submodules switchLibravatar Stefan Beller1-0/+8
git-reset is yet another working tree manipulator, which should be taught about submodules. When a user uses git-reset and requests to recurse into submodules, this will reset the submodules to the object name as recorded in the superproject, detaching the HEADs. 2014-07-14reset: add t7112 for submodule updatesLibravatar Jens Lehmann1-0/+14
Test that the reset command updates the work tree as expected for changes with '--keep', '--merge' (for changes which don't result in conflicts) and '--hard'. Signed-off-by: Jens Lehmann <Jens.Lehmann@web.de> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
