2018-07-30tests: make use of the test_must_be_empty functionLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-2/+1
Change various tests that use an idiom of the form: >expect && test_cmp expect actual To instead use: test_must_be_empty actual The test_must_be_empty() wrapper was introduced in ca8d148daf ("test: test_must_be_empty helper", 2013-06-09). Many of these tests have been added after that time. This was mostly found with, and manually pruned from: git grep '^\s+>.*expect.* &&$' t Signed-off-by: Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason <avarab@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2015-03-25t: fix some trivial cases of ignored exit codes in loopsLibravatar Jeff King1-2/+2
These are all cases where we do a setup step of the form: for i in $foo; do set_up $i || break done && more_setup would not notice a failure in set_up (because break always returns a 0 exit code). These are just setup steps that we do not expect to fail, but it does not hurt to be defensive. Most can be fixed by converting the "break" to a "return 1" (since we eval our tests inside a function for just this purpose). A few of the loops are inside subshells, so we can use just "exit 1" to break out of the subshell. And a few can actually be made shorter by just unrolling the loop. 2012-09-07fetch --all: pass --tags/--no-tags through to each remoteLibravatar Dan Johnson1-0/+30
When fetch is invoked with --all, we need to pass the tag-following preference to each individual fetch; without this, we will always auto-follow tags, preventing us from fetching the remote tags into a remote-specific namespace, for example. 2010-11-09tests: add missing &&Libravatar Jonathan Nieder1-1/+1
Breaks in a test assertion's && chain can potentially hide failures from earlier commands in the chain. Commands intended to fail should be marked with !, test_must_fail, or test_might_fail. The examples in this patch do not require that. Signed-off-by: Jonathan Nieder <jrnieder@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2009-11-10Add the configuration option skipFetchAllLibravatar Björn Gustavsson1-3/+37
Implement the configuration skipFetchAll option to allow certain remotes to be skipped when doing 'git fetch --all' and 'git remote update'. The existing skipDefaultUpdate variable is still honored (by 'git fetch --all' and 'git remote update'). (If both are set in the configuration file with different values, the value of the last occurrence will be used.) 2009-11-10Teach the --multiple option to 'git fetch'Libravatar Björn Gustavsson1-0/+44
Add the --multiple option to specify that all arguments are either groups or remotes. The primary reason for adding this option is to allow us to re-implement 'git remote update' using fetch. It would have been nice if this option was not needed, but since the colon in a refspec is optional, it is in general not possible to know whether a single, colon-less argument is a remote or a refspec. 2009-11-10Teach the --all option to 'git fetch'Libravatar Björn Gustavsson1-0/+76
'git remote' is meant for managing remotes and 'git fetch' is meant for actually fetching data from remote repositories. Therefore, it is not logical that you must use 'git remote update' to fetch from more than one repository at once. Add the --all option to 'git fetch', to tell it to attempt to fetch from all remotes. Also, if --all is not given, the <repository> argument is allowed to be the name of a group, to allow fetching from all repositories in the group. Other options except -v and -q are silently ignored.
