2013-06-07tests: move test for rebase messages from t3400 to t3406Libravatar Martin von Zweigbergk1-0/+22
t3406 is supposed to test "messages from rebase operation", so let's move tests in t3400 that fit that description into 3406. Most of the functionality they tested, except for the messages, has now been subsumed by t3420. 2013-06-07t3406: modernize styleLibravatar Martin von Zweigbergk1-21/+9
Update the following: - Quote 'setup' - Remove blank lines within test case body - Use test_commit instead of custom quick_one - Create branch "topic" from tag created by test_commit Signed-off-by: Martin von Zweigbergk <martinvonz@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2012-07-25i18n: rebase: mark messages for translationLibravatar Jiang Xin1-1/+8
Mark messages in git-rebase.sh for translation. While doing this Jonathan noticed that the comma usage and sentence structure of the resolvemsg was not quite right, so correct that and its cousins in git-am.sh and t/t0201-gettext-fallbacks.sh at the same time. Some tests would start to fail with GETTEXT_POISON turned on after this update. Use test_i18ncmp and test_i18ngrep where appropriate to mark strings that should only be checked in the C locale output to avoid such issues. 2012-05-30rebase: report invalid commit correctlyLibravatar Erik Faye-Lund1-0/+5
In 9765b6a (rebase: align variable content, 2011-02-06), the code to error out was moved up one level. Unfortunately, one reference to a function parameter wasn't rewritten as it should, leading to the wrong parameter being errored on. This error was propagated by 71786f5 (rebase: factor out reference parsing, 2011-02-06) and merged in 78c6e0f (Merge branch 'mz/rebase', 2011-04-28). Correct this by reporting $onto_name istead. 2010-11-09tests: add missing &&Libravatar Jonathan Nieder1-3/+3
Breaks in a test assertion's && chain can potentially hide failures from earlier commands in the chain. Commands intended to fail should be marked with !, test_must_fail, or test_might_fail. The examples in this patch do not require that. Signed-off-by: Jonathan Nieder <jrnieder@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2009-03-02git-rebase: Add --stat and --no-stat for producing diffstat on rebaseLibravatar Tor Arne Vestbø1-1/+22
The behavior of --verbose is unchanged, but uses a different state variable internally, so that the meaning of verbose output may be expanded without affecting the diffstat. This is also reflected in the documentation. The configuration option rebase.stat works the same was as merg.stat, but the default is currently false. 2008-03-13add test_cmp function for test scriptsLibravatar Jeff King1-1/+1
Many scripts compare actual and expected output using "diff -u". This is nicer than "cmp" because the output shows how the two differ. However, not all versions of diff understand -u, leading to unnecessary test failure. This adds a test_cmp function to the test scripts and switches all "diff -u" invocations to use it. The function uses the contents of "$GIT_TEST_CMP" to compare its arguments; the default is "diff -u". On systems with a less-capable diff, you can do: GIT_TEST_CMP=cmp make test Signed-off-by: Jeff King <peff@peff.net> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2007-09-01rebase -m: Fix incorrect short-logs of already applied commits.Libravatar Johannes Sixt1-0/+44
When a topic branch is rebased, some of whose commits are already cherry-picked upstream: o--X--A--B--Y <- master \ A--B--Z <- topic then 'git rebase -m master' would report: Already applied: 0001 Y Already applied: 0002 Y With this fix it reports the expected: Already applied: 0001 A Already applied: 0002 B As an added bonus, this change also avoids 'echo' of a commit message, which might contain escapements.
