2021-11-01leak tests: mark some config tests as passing with SANITIZE=leakLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-0/+2
Mark some tests that match "*config*" as passing when git is compiled with SANITIZE=leak. They'll now be listed as running under the "GIT_TEST_PASSING_SANITIZE_LEAK=true" test mode (the "linux-leaks" CI target). 2021-05-11test-lib functions: add --printf option to test_commitLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-3/+1
Add a --printf option to test_commit to allow writing to the file with "printf" instead of "echo". This is useful for writing "\n", "\0" etc., in particular in combination with the --append option added in 3373518cc8 (test-lib functions: add an --append option to test_commit, 2021-01-12). I'm converting a few tests to use the new option rather than a manual printf/add/commit combination to demonstrate its usefulness. While I'm at it use "test_create_repo" where appropriate, and give the first/second commit a meaningful/more conventional log message in cases where no test cared about that message. 2019-12-20t1307: reorder `nongit test_must_fail`Libravatar Denton Liu1-1/+1
In the future, we plan on only allowing `test_must_fail` to work on a restricted subset of commands, including `git`. Reorder the commands so that `nongit` comes before `test_must_fail`. This way, `test_must_fail` operates on a git command. Signed-off-by: Denton Liu <liu.denton@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2018-05-21config: die when --blob is used outside a repositoryLibravatar Jeff King1-0/+4
If you run "config --blob" outside of a repository, then we eventually try to resolve the blob name and hit a BUG(). Let's catch this earlier and provide a useful message. Note that we could also catch this much lower in the stack, in git_config_from_blob_ref(). That might cover other callsites, too, but it's unclear whether those ones would actually be bugs or not. So let's leave the low-level functions to assume the caller knows what it's doing (and BUG() if it turns out it doesn't). 2016-06-17tests: use test_i18n* functions to suppress false positivesLibravatar Vasco Almeida1-4/+1
The test functions test_i18ncmp and test_i18ngrep pretend success if run under GETTEXT_POISON. By using those functions to test output which is correctly marked as translatable, enables one to detect if the strings newly marked for translation are from plumbing output. If they are indeed from plumbing, the test would fail, and the string should be unmarked, since it is not seen by users. Thus, it is productive to not have false positives when running the test under GETTEXT_POISON. This commit replaces normal test functions by their i18n aware variants in use-cases know to be correctly marked for translation, suppressing false positives. 2015-02-05config: do not ungetc EOFLibravatar Jeff King1-0/+9
When we are parsing a config value, if we see a carriage return, we fgetc the next character to see if it is a line feed (in which case we silently drop the CR). If it isn't, we then ungetc the character, and take the literal CR. But we never check whether we in fact got a character at all. If the config file ends in CR, we will get EOF here, and try to ungetc EOF. This works OK for a real stdio stream. The ungetc returns an error, and the next fgetc will then return EOF again. However, our custom buffer-based stream is not so fortunate. It happily rewinds the position of the stream by one character, ignoring the fact that we fed it EOF. The next fgetc call returns the final CR again, over and over, and we end up in an infinite loop. Signed-off-by: Jeff King <peff@peff.net> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2013-07-12teach config --blob option to parse config from databaseLibravatar Heiko Voigt1-0/+70
This can be used to read configuration values directly from git's database. For example it is useful for reading to be checked out .gitmodules files directly from the database.
