2020-10-07git-gui: improve dark mode supportLibravatar Serg Tereshchenko1-0/+38
The colors of some ttext widgets are hard-coded. These hard-coded colors are okay with a light theme but with a dark theme some widgets are dark colored and the hard-coded ones are still light. This defeats the purpose of applying the theme and makes the UI look very awkward. Remove the hard-coded colors in ttext calls and use colors from the theme for those widgets via Text. Background and Text.Foreground from the option database. Similarly, the highlighting for the currently selected file(s) in the "Staged Files" and "Unstaged Files" sections is also hard-coded. Pull the colors for that from the current theme to make sure it is in line Signed-off-by: Serg Tereshchenko <serg.partizan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Pratyush Yadav <me@yadavpratyush.com>
2018-03-05git-gui: workaround ttk:style theme useLibravatar Clemens Buchacher1-5/+10
Tk 8.5.7, which is the latest version on Centos 6, does not support getting the current theme with [ttk::style theme use]. Use the existing workaround for this in all places. Signed-off-by: Clemens Buchacher <drizzd@gmx.net> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2016-10-02Amend tab ordering and text widget border and highlighting.Libravatar Pat Thoyts1-1/+86
Tab order follows widget creation order (and Z-order) so amend this to match the layout more logically. For keyboard selection a highlight around the selected text widget is useful. Customized on Windows themed Tk to follow the native theme more closely with a custom EntryFrame style. Signed-off-by: Pat Thoyts <patthoyts@users.sourceforge.net>
2011-10-19git-gui: set suitable extended window manager hints.Libravatar Pat Thoyts1-0/+1
This patch uses recent Tk attributes support to specify the intended use of new toplevels by setting the correct EWMH hint. This helps modern window managers to apply sensible decoration for the tooltip and dialogs. Signed-off-by: Pat Thoyts <patthoyts@users.sourceforge.net>

2010-01-27git-gui: use themed tk widgets with Tk 8.5Libravatar Pat Thoyts1-0/+174
This patch enables the use of themed Tk widgets with Tk 8.5 and above. These make a significant difference on Windows in making the application appear native. On Windows and MacOSX ttk defaults to the native look as much as possible. On X11 the user may select a theme using the TkTheme XRDB resource class by adding an line to the .Xresources file. The set of installed theme names is available using the Tk command 'ttk::themes'. The default on X11 is similar to the current un-themed style - a kind of thin bordered motif look. A new git config variable 'gui.usettk' may be set to disable this if the user prefers the classic Tk look. Using Tk 8.4 will also avoid the use of themed widgets as these are only available since 8.5. Some support is included for Tk 8.6 features (themed spinbox and native font chooser for MacOSX and Windows). Signed-off-by: Pat Thoyts <patthoyts@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Shawn O.
