The recently introduced commit-graph auxiliary data is incompatible
with mechanisms such as replace & grafts that "breaks" immutable
nature of the object reference relationship. Disable optimizations
based on its use (and updating existing commit-graph) when these
incompatible features are in use in the repository.
* ds/commit-graph-with-grafts:
commit-graph: close_commit_graph before shallow walk
commit-graph: not compatible with uninitialized repo
commit-graph: not compatible with grafts
commit-graph: not compatible with replace objects
test-repository: properly init repo

refs.c: upgrade for_each_replace_ref to be a each_repo_ref_fn callback
refs.c: migrate internal ref iteration to pass thru repository argument

Using the more restrictive oideq() should, in the long run,
give the compiler more opportunities to optimize these
callsites. For now, this conversion should be a complete
noop with respect to the generated code.
The result is also perhaps a little more readable, as it
avoids the "zero is equal" idiom. Since it's so prevalent in
C, I think seasoned programmers tend not to even notice it
anymore, but it can sometimes make for awkward double
negations (e.g., we can drop a few !!oidcmp() instances
here).
This patch was generated almost entirely by the included
coccinelle patch. This mechanical conversion should be
completely safe, because we check explicitly for cases where
oidcmp() is compared to 0, which is what oideq() is doing
under the hood. Note that we don't have to catch "!oidcmp()"
separately; coccinelle's standard isomorphisms make sure the
two are treated equivalently.
I say "almost" because I did hand-edit the coccinelle output
to fix up a few style violations (it mostly keeps the
original formatting, but sometimes unwraps long lines).

Many messages will be marked for translation in the following
commits. This commit updates some of them to be more consistent and
reduce diff noise in those commits. Changes are
- keep the first letter of die(), error() and warning() in lowercase
- no full stop in die(), error() or warning() if it's single sentence
messages
- indentation
- some messages are turned to BUG(), or prefixed with "BUG:" and will
not be marked for i18n
- some messages are improved to give more information
- some messages are broken down by sentence to be i18n friendly
(on the same token, combine multiple warning() into one big string)
- the trailing \n is converted to printf_ln if possible, or deleted
if not redundant
- errno_errno() is used instead of explicit strerror()

This was added as a NEEDSWORK in c3c36d7de2 (replace-object:

Add a repository argument to allow the callers of parse_tag_buffer
to be more specific about which repository to act on. This is a small

repositories other than the_repository yet.

The functionality of "$GIT_DIR/info/grafts" has been superseded by
the "refs/replace/" mechanism for some time now, but the internal
code had support for it in many places, which has been cleaned up
in order to drop support of the "grafts" mechanism.
* js/deprecate-grafts:
Remove obsolete script to convert grafts to replace refs
technical/shallow: describe why shallow cannot use replace refs

Deprecate support for .git/info/grafts

replace: introduce --convert-graft-file
replace: prepare create_graft() for converting graft files wholesale
replace: "libify" create_graft() and callees
replace: avoid using die() to indicate a bug
commit: Let the callback of for_each_mergetag return on error
argv_array: offer to split a string by whitespace

When converting all grafts in a graft file to replace refs, and one of
them happens to leave the original commit's parents unchanged, we do not
want to error out. Instead, we would like to issue a warning.
Prepare the create_graft() function for such a use case by adding a
`gentle` parameter. If set, we do not return an error when the replace ref
is unchanged, but a mere warning.

File this away as yet another patch in the "libification" category.
As with all useful functions, in the next commit we want to use
create_graft() from a higher-level function where it would be
inconvenient if the called function simply die()s: if there is a
problem, we want to let the user know how to proceed, and the callee
simply has no way of knowing what to say.

This is yet another patch to be filed under the keyword "libification".
There is one subtle change in behavior here, where a `git log` that has
been asked to show the mergetags would now stop reporting the mergetags
upon the first failure, whereas previously, it would have continued to the
next mergetag, if any.
In practice, that change should not matter, as it is 1) uncommon to
perform octopus merges using multiple tags as merge heads, and 2) when the
user asks to be shown those tags, they really should be there.

Convert lookup_commit, lookup_commit_or_die,
lookup_commit_reference, and lookup_commit_reference_gently to take
struct object_id arguments.
Introduce a temporary in parse_object buffer in order to convert this
function. This is required since in order to convert parse_object and
parse_object_buffer, lookup_commit_reference_gently and
lookup_commit_or_die would need to be converted. Not introducing a
temporary would therefore require that lookup_commit_or_die take a
struct object_id *, but lookup_commit would take unsigned char *,
leaving a confusing and hard-to-use interface.
parse_object_buffer will lose this temporary in a later patch.

Many functions which handle refs use a PATH_MAX-sized buffer
to do so. This is mostly reasonable as we have to write
loose refs into the filesystem, and at least on Linux the 4K
PATH_MAX is big enough that nobody would care. But:
1. The static PATH_MAX is not always the filesystem limit.
2. On other platforms, PATH_MAX may be much smaller.
3. As we move to alternate ref storage, we won't be bound
by filesystem limits.
Let's convert these to heap buffers so we don't have to
worry about truncation or size limits.
We may want to eventually constrain ref lengths for sanity
and to prevent malicious names, but we should do so
consistently across all platforms, and in a central place
(like the ref code).

Convert various uses of unsigned char [20] to struct object_id. Rename
replace_object_sha1 to replace_object_oid. Finally, specify a constant
in terms of GIT_SHA1_HEXSZ.

When the current branch is renamed with 'git branch -m/-M' or deleted
with 'git update-ref -m<msg> -d', the event is recorded in HEAD's log
with an empty message. In preparation for adding a more meaningful
message to HEAD's log in these cases, update delete_ref() to take a
message argument and pass it along to ref_transaction_delete().
Modify all callers to pass NULL for the new message argument; no
change in behavior is intended.
Note that this is relevant for HEAD's log but not for the deleted
ref's log, which is currently deleted along with the ref. Even if it
were not, an entry for the deletion wouldn't be present in the deleted
ref's log. files_transaction_commit() writes to the log if
REF_NEEDS_COMMIT or REF_LOG_ONLY are set, but lock_ref_for_update()
doesn't set REF_NEEDS_COMMIT for the deleted ref because REF_DELETING
is set. In contrast, the update for HEAD has REF_LOG_ONLY set by
split_head_update(), resulting in the deletion being logged.

"git replace -e" did not honour "core.editor" configuration.
* js/replace-edit-use-editor-configuration:
replace --edit: respect core.editor

We simply need to read the config, is all.
