2011-03-16standardize brace placement in struct definitionsLibravatar Jonathan Nieder1-2/+1
In a struct definitions, unlike functions, the prevailing style is for the opening brace to go on the same line as the struct name, like so: struct foo { int bar; char *baz; }; Indeed, grepping for 'struct [a-z_]* {$' yields about 5 times as many matches as 'struct [a-z_]*$'. Linus sayeth: Heretic people all over the world have claimed that this inconsistency is ... well ... inconsistent, but all right-thinking people know that (a) K&R are _right_ and (b) K&R are right. 2011-03-09i18n: git-add "Unstaged changes" messageLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-1/+1

2011-03-09i18n: git-add "did not match any files" messageLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-1/+1
Make the "did not match any files" message translatable, and skip the test that checks for it when the C_LOCALE_OUTPUT prereq is not present. 2011-03-09i18n: git-add "The following paths are ignored" messageLibravatar Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason1-4/+4
The tests t2204 (.gitignore) and t3700 (add) explicitly check for these messages, so while at it, split each relevant test into a part that just checks "git add"'s exit status and a part that checks porcelain output. 2011-02-27git-add: make -A description clearer vs. -uLibravatar Michael J Gruber1-1/+1
Currently, it sounds as if "notice removal of files" distinguishes "-A" from "-u", and there is no mention of the worktree. But both notice the removal, and only "-A" adds changes from untracked files. Say so. Signed-off-by: Michael J Gruber <git@drmicha.warpmail.net> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>

2010-11-15add description parameter to OPT__DRY_RUNLibravatar René Scharfe1-1/+1

2010-11-12add: do not rely on dtype being NULL behaviorLibravatar Nguyễn Thái Ngọc Duy1-1/+2
Commit c84de70 (excluded_1(): support exclude files in index - 2009-08-20) added support for excluded() where dtype can be NULL. It was designed specifically for index matching because there was no other way to extract dtype information from index. It did not support wildcard matching (for example, "a*/" pattern would fail to match). The code was probably misread when commit 108da0d (git add: Add the "--ignore-missing" option for the dry run - 2010-07-10) was made because DT_UNKNOWN happens to be zero (NULL) too. Do not pass DT_UNKNOWN/NULL to excluded(), instead pass a pointer to a variable that contains DT_UNKNOWN. The real dtype will be extracted from worktree by excluded(), as expected. 2010-07-12git add: Add the "--ignore-missing" option for the dry runLibravatar Jens Lehmann1-4/+12
Sometimes it is useful to know if a file or directory will be ignored before it is added to the work tree. An example is "git submodule add", where it would be really nice to be able to fail with an appropriate error message before the submodule is cloned and checked out. 2010-05-31Rewrite dynamic structure initializations to runtime assignmentLibravatar Gary V. Vaughan1-1/+3
Unfortunately, there are still plenty of production systems with vendor compilers that choke unless all compound declarations can be determined statically at compile time, for example hpux10.20 (I can provide a comprehensive list of our supported platforms that exhibit this problem if necessary). This patch simply breaks apart any compound declarations with dynamic initialisation expressions, and moves the initialisation until after the last declaration in the same block, in all the places necessary to have the offending compilers accept the code. 2010-02-22Move 'builtin-*' into a 'builtin/' subdirectoryLibravatar Linus Torvalds1-0/+442
This shrinks the top-level directory a bit, and makes it much more pleasant to use auto-completion on the thing. Instead of [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em buil<tab> Display all 180 possibilities? (y or n) [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin-sh builtin-shortlog.c builtin-show-branch.c builtin-show-ref.c builtin-shortlog.o builtin-show-branch.o builtin-show-ref.o [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin-shor<tab> builtin-shortlog.c builtin-shortlog.o [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin-shortlog.c you get [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em buil<tab> [type] builtin/ builtin.h [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin [auto-completes to] [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin/sh<tab> [type] shortlog.c shortlog.o show-branch.c show-branch.o show-ref.c show-ref.o [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin/sho [auto-completes to] [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin/shor<tab> [type] shortlog.c shortlog.o [torvalds@nehalem git]$ em builtin/shortlog.c which doesn't seem all that different, but not having that annoying break in "Display all 180 possibilities?" is quite a relief. NOTE! If you do this in a clean tree (no object files etc), or using an editor that has auto-completion rules that ignores '*.o' files, you won't see that annoying 'Display all 180 possibilities?' message - it will just show the choices instead. I think bash has some cut-off around 100 choices or something. So the reason I see this is that I'm using an odd editory, and thus don't have the rules to cut down on auto-completion. But you can simulate that by using 'ls' instead, or something similar. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
