2007-09-26Make builtin-rerere use of strbuf nicer and more efficient.Libravatar Pierre Habouzit1-25/+18
memory is now reused across hunks. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>

2007-09-10Strbuf API extensions and fixes.Libravatar Pierre Habouzit1-2/+2
* Add strbuf_rtrim to remove trailing spaces. * Add strbuf_insert to insert data at a given position. * Off-by one fix in strbuf_addf: strbuf_avail() does not counts the final \0 so the overflow test for snprintf is the strict comparison. This is not critical as the growth mechanism chosen will always allocate _more_ memory than asked, so the second test will not fail. It's some kind of miracle though. * Add size extension hints for strbuf_init and strbuf_read. If 0, default applies, else: + initial buffer has the given size for strbuf_init. + first growth checks it has at least this size rather than the default 8192. 2007-07-14Make every builtin-*.c file #include "builtin.h"Libravatar Peter Hagervall1-0/+1
Make every builtin-*.c file #include "builtin.h". Also takes care of some declaration/definition mismatches. Signed-off-by: Peter Hagervall <hager@cs.umu.se> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2007-07-09rerere: record resolution even if file is not in merge baseLibravatar Johannes Schindelin1-10/+7
Two-file merges were rare enough that they were dropped outside of the radar. This fix is a trivial change to builtin-rerere.c::find_conflict(). It is still sane to insist that we do not do rerere for symlinks, and require to have stages #2 and #3, but we can drop the requirement to have stage #1. rerere does not use information from there anyway. This fix is from Junio, together with two tests to verify that it works as expected. 2007-07-07Merge branch 'jc/diff-mark'Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-1/+1
* jc/diff-mark: diff: honor binariness specified in attributes Fix configuration syntax to specify customized hunk header patterns. Per-path attribute based hunk header selection. Future-proof source for changes in xdemitconf_t Introduce diff_filespec_is_binary()
2007-07-06Enable "git rerere" by the config variable rerere.enabledLibravatar Johannes Schindelin1-4/+28
Earlier, "git rerere" was enabled by creating the directory .git/rr-cache. That is definitely not in line with most other features, which are enabled by a config variable. So, check the config variable "rerere.enabled". If it is set to "false" explicitely, do not activate rerere, even if .git/rr-cache exists. This should help when you want to disable rerere temporarily. If "rerere.enabled" is not set at all, fall back to detection of the directory .git/rr-cache. 2007-07-06Future-proof source for changes in xdemitconf_tLibravatar Johannes Schindelin1-1/+1
The instances of xdemitconf_t were initialized member by member. Instead, initialize them to all zero, so we do not have to update those places each time we introduce a new member. [jc: minimally fixed by getting rid of a new global] Signed-off-by: Johannes Schindelin <johannes.schindelin@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2007-06-26detect close failure on just-written file handlesLibravatar Jim Meyering1-1/+2
I audited git for potential undetected write failures. In the cases fixed below, the diagnostics I add mimic the diagnostics used in surrounding code, even when that means not reporting the precise strerror(errno) cause of the error. 2007-06-07War on whitespaceLibravatar Junio C Hamano1-1/+0
This uses "git-apply --whitespace=strip" to fix whitespace errors that have crept in to our source files over time. There are a few files that need to have trailing whitespaces (most notably, test vectors). The results still passes the test, and build result in Documentation/ area is unchanged. 2007-04-04rerere: make sorting really stable.Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-2/+5
The earlier code does not swap hunks when the beginning of the first side is identical to the whole of the second side. In such a case, the first one should sort later. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>

2007-04-03rerere should not repeat the earlier hunks in later onesLibravatar Junio C Hamano1-0/+9
When a file has more then one conflicting hunks, it repeated the contents of previous hunks in output for later ones. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>

2007-02-25rerere: do not deal with symlinks.Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-5/+9

2007-02-25rerere: do not skip two conflicted paths next to each other.Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-1/+1
The code forgot to take the for (;;) loop control into account, incrementing the index once too many. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2007-02-20prefixcmp(): fix-up mechanical conversion.Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-3/+3
Previous step converted use of strncmp() with literal string mechanically even when the result is only used as a boolean: if (!strncmp("foo", arg, 3)) ==> if (!(-prefixcmp(arg, "foo"))) This step manually cleans them up to read: if (!prefixcmp(arg, "foo")) Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2007-02-20Mechanical conversion to use prefixcmp()Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-3/+3
This mechanically converts strncmp() to use prefixcmp(), but only when the parameters match specific patterns, so that they can be verified easily. Leftover from this will be fixed in a separate step, including idiotic conversions like if (!strncmp("foo", arg, 3)) => if (!(-prefixcmp(arg, "foo"))) This was done by using this script in px.perl #!/usr/bin/perl -i.bak -p if (/strncmp\(([^,]+), "([^\\"]*)", (\d+)\)/ && (length($2) == $3)) { s|strncmp\(([^,]+), "([^\\"]*)", (\d+)\)|prefixcmp($1, "$2")|; } if (/strncmp\("([^\\"]*)", ([^,]+), (\d+)\)/ && (length($1) == $3)) { s|strncmp\("([^\\"]*)", ([^,]+), (\d+)\)|(-prefixcmp($2, "$1"))|; } and running: $ git grep -l strncmp -- '*.c' | xargs perl px.perl Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2007-01-08short i/o: fix calls to write to use xwrite or write_in_fullLibravatar Andy Whitcroft1-4/+7
We have a number of badly checked write() calls. Often we are expecting write() to write exactly the size we requested or fail, this fails to handle interrupts or short writes. Switch to using the new write_in_full(). Otherwise we at a minimum need to check for EINTR and EAGAIN, where this is appropriate use xwrite(). Note, the changes to config handling are much larger and handled in the next patch in the sequence. Signed-off-by: Andy Whitcroft <apw@shadowen.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2007-01-04rerere: Fix removal of already resolved path.Libravatar Junio C Hamano1-4/+3
